| Principals When Tim Hunter graduated from Yale University with his MFA in Scenic and Lighting Design, he had little idea that one day his eponymous company would be engaged in projects that defined the leading edge of experiential design. Along with Jim Youmans, he shared a commitment to excellence as well as a desire to expand into thematic and architectural ventures. Jim is a driving force behind THD's most creative output - innovative concepts for media installations, themed environments and unique display systems. In the year 2000, Tim Hunter was searching for a new studio assistant when recent graduate Mike Hansen was recommended to him. Mike brought both scenic and lighting design experience in addition to administrative capabilities that served as a foundation for the growth of Tim Hunter Design. When Tim and Mike needed a website for the burgeoning firm, they turned to Tim’s neighbor’s son-in-law. However, it was quickly apparent that Vern McKinney could contribute much more than that. Vern’s background in theatre, architecture, project management and engineering came as the perfect complement to the other skills sets of the designers at THD. In this unique way, Tim assembled the core team that currently manages and supports all personnel at Tim Hunter Design. |
